I have very exciting news for you long suffering Maxpedition fans. Finally, Maxpedition is coming out with new backpack designs. The Zafar Internal Frame Pack is built around a polypropylene frame with a single aluminum stay.

It includes a soft-lined sunglasses pouch, hydration pocket for a 100oz hydration bladder, a variety of mesh pockets to organize gear, Hypalon bottom with compression straps, an egg crate backpanel, removable sternum strap, and a padded removable waist belt that has additional pouches.
I’m excited about the potential of the Zafar for a couple of reasons. First, it includes many of the features that I’ve been after a certain ruck company to include in their flagship product. Second, at 21.5″ H x 17.5″ W x 12″ D, Maxpedition made this pack long enough to fit a wider range of users – especially those with longer torsos. Finally, the frame being used in this pack coupled with the waist belt should result in a very comfortable carry under load.
Yes folks, it looks like Maxpedition is back in the pack business. The Zafar is available for pre-order now with availability later this month. A larger version, called the Xantha, has also been released and is available in the same timeframe.
