I going to tell you guys right off the bat that Triple Aught Design’s Fast Pack EDC is a keeper. In the short time I’ve had the pack, I’ve come to appreciate the features and flexibility of the design. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be one of those instances when a manufacturer has gone overboard and included features that are unnecessary and outright annoying. But TAD was smart enough to make much of the EDC’s accessories optional. Don’t like the transporter tail? Remove it. Don’t need the waist belt for EDC use or for a lesser load? Ditch it and save the weight.

I was running the TAD Fast Pack EDC head-to-head against the GoRuck GR1 and despite the GoRuck’s superior load bearing straps and elegantly simple design, the TAD EDC for me was the better pack. I like having the option of having a load bearing waist belt when I need one. The admin pocket on the EDC isn’t optimal but at least it has one. And overall, the EDC has excellent organization although some of it is harder than it should be to get to (more on that when I do the full review).
Here are some shots of the Triple Aught Design Fast Pack EDC on my 6’4″ frame. Everything on the EDC is highly adjustable and I was able to achieve a comfortable fit after some trial and error. In the end, it was more comfortable than the stiff GoRuck out of the box.
Even after a long and sometimes wet day on the trail, the pack performed up to my high expectations. I got cranky towards the end of the hike but it had nothing to do with my gear.

Enough of this s**t. Let’s go get a beer!
A full review of the Triple Aught Design Fast Pack EDC will be forthcoming. Stay tuned!
