I just put a deposit on a pre-order at Blade HQ for the new Kershaw CQC-7K Tanto Emerson Folder. As the name would indicate, this is a collaboration between Kershaw and Ernie Emerson, and one of seven different designs being released under the Kershaw brand. There are also a couple of higher end ZT models.
The blade is a modified tanto with two finishes: a satin finish on the grind and a stonewashed finish on the upper. The front scale is textured G-10 and the backside is stainless steel.

Kershaw CQC-7K Tanto Emerson Knife
I’m excited about the CQC-7K for a couple of reasons. First, this will be my first knife with the Emerson wave feature, which I’m anxious to try out. It’s also my first tanto blade. Here are some specs:
- Thumb disk; waved shaped opening feature
- Manual opening
- Frame lock
- Reversible pocketclip
- Steel: 8Cr13MoV, stonewashed & satin finish
- Handle: Black textured G-10, 410 bead-blasted finish back
- Blade length: 3.25 in. (8.3 cm)
- Closed length: 4.5 in. (11.4 cm)
A lot of people, especially Emerson fans, aren’t going to be excited about the lower end steel or that this knife is made in China. But, I think it will make a great beater knife and for a $37.95 street price, you can hardly go wrong.
No release date has been announced, but I’ll post a full review after it comes in. Stay tuned!
