The Soot Electropack

The Soot Electropack

We live in a digital world and if you’re like me then it’s possible you’re carrying multiple electronic devices on your person at any given point in time – especially when commuting for work or traveling.  The Soot Electropack Kickstarter project addresses that need in a pretty unique way.  We’ve seen bags that include batteries before and the Soot Electropack does indeed include a 10,000 mAh battery that can charge up to four USB powered devices at once.  What’s compelling about the Electropack is that it’s three packs in one – a 10 Liter Mini Messenger, 24 Liter Commuter Backpack, and a 34 Liter Travel Bag.

Here is a graphic depicting the modular design (note the battery is optional):

As mentioned in the video, the Electropack is available with a Marine Vinyl exterior or they also offer the pack in Ballistic Nylon with Marine Vinyl honeycomb accents.  You don’t see Marine Vinyl used very often in pack design.  It’s most commonly used for boat upholstery, awnings, boat covers, and protective tarps.  I’m not sure how it would hold up aesthetically to the rough and tumble demands of everyday carry and especially travel use.  I generally prefer 500/1000D Cordura or Ballistic nylon.  But, needless to say, Marine Vinyl does a pretty good job of warding off the elements and it does lend an interesting look to the overall design.

The Soot Electropack Kickstarter project has already reached it’s funding goal with 12 days left.  If you’re in need of a multi-use pack and open to something different then I’d highly recommend you check it out.
