Gear Diary: Camelback Urban Assault Revisited

Have you ever sold something and regretted it later? Such was the case with my Camelback Urban Assault earlier this year. I sold it to another member on EDC Forums shortly after field testing the Tom Bihn Synapse 25. I had too many bags of the same size and was in love with the Synapse. At the time, my reasoning was… dare I say… logical.

Well, I realized my blunder when I recently started a new job and got saddled with a laptop that was over a pound heavier than what I was carrying before and an iPad mated to a ZAGG keyboard that added another 2.5 lbs (in addition to my normal EDC).  Without a frame sheet, I discovered that the Synapse definitely has a upper weight limit where comfort starts to become an issue.   I also found myself missing some of the CUA's features like it's large fleece lined sunglasses pocket and beavertail for quick access to an extra layer.

Well, another EDC Forums member bailed me out.  Glenn, my EDC Brother From Another Mother Down Under (EBFAMDU), sold me his gently used Camelbak Urban Assault for a very reasonable price and shipped it from Australia.  It arrived yesterday.

You have to love the Aussies… even their bags are tough. ;-)  Anyway, many thanks to Glenn for going through the trouble of shipping the bag overseas.  Rest assured, it will be put to good use sir.
